She’s called Driftwood and she’s our super cool/hot authentic wood-fired sauna box right next to the beach in Stonehaven Harbour


This Estonian style wood fired sauna is in a converted horse box and features beautiful scented Aspen paneling, a gorgeous super efficient wood-fired stove and is clad on the outside with driftwood collected from Stonehaven beach. It has upper and lower benches and will accommodate up to 6 people. Our Beach site has incredible sea and harbour views with direct beach access, so perfect for a sea swim, paddleboard or kayak too! We have changing facilities, a cold freshwater shower and public toilets are available near by.


  • Mixed Sessions – 45min sessions £10 per person.[up to 6 persons] scheduled weekly, message me for schedule or follow me on facebook to keep in the loop.
  • Private Sessions – 45min session £50 [for 1 or up to 6 persons] message me to request your day and time           
  • Take Away – Hey am mobile so if you want me to come to you no problem, birthdays, events, corporate. Contact me to discuss your requirements and costs
  • Road Trips – We will be organising road trips throughout the year to some cool locations throughout Scotland and mixing in other activities such as wild swimming, sup, skiing, kayak etc.
  • Combine one of our Lessons, Tours or Rental
  • Gift Vouchers – For a session or mix with another activity
  • Example Session – Start your session by heating your self up in the Sauna
  • Plunge into the sea which a stone throw away for a dip/swim. Out you come get under the cold shower and then back into the sauna to heat yourself up again
  • Finish off with either another dip in the sea or a cold shower.

  • There will be hourly slots available between 7am and 7pm, 7 days a week. Just message me to enquire about availability or if wanting to combine with a paddleboarding, kayaking activity, take away or want something more bespoke
  • Cancellation of your session must be done with 48 hrs notice minimum!

  • Up to 6 users at a time
  • If you are pregnant or have any underlying health problems, please seek advice from your doctor first. We believe that the sauna benefits your health, but it does get hot! So be aware of your body, take lots of breaks and keep hydrated
  • Children under the age of 12 are not permitted and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.


  • Your swimwear and 2 towels – one to dry yourself and one to sit on in the sauna
  • It can be chilly so it’s a good idea to bring a robe and sandals                
  • Water bottle.


  1. The sauna can reach 85ºC or higher. Humidity (and perceived heat) is varied in the sauna by pouring water over the rocks to create steam
  2. We recommend cooling off outside between rounds by using our shower, or, ideally, by jumping into the sea (if conditions allow)
  3. Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their personal physician or a pharmacist for possible changes in the drug’s effect when the body is exposed to infrared waves or elevated temperatures. Some medications including diuretics, barbiturates, and beta-blockers and others may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms. Some over the counter drugs such as antihistamines may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke
  4. Pregnant women should consult a physician before using the sauna because foetal damage can occur with a certain elevated body temperature
  5. Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or problems (hypertension/hypotension), congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those who are taking medications which might affect blood pressure should exercise extreme caution when exposed to prolonged heat. Heat stress increases cardiac output and blood flow in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside environment via the skin (perspiration) and respiratory systems. If using a pacemaker or defibrillator, please discuss risks involved with your physician
  6. If you have had a heart attack in the last 6 months please seek medical advice prior to using the saunas
  7. If you have severe arterial disease please seek medical advice prior to using the saunas
  8. If you have a recent joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours after injury or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside. If you have joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind. Vigorous heating may be contraindicated in cases of infections
  9. Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect far infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system, nevertheless you should consult your surgeon prior to using an Infrared Sauna. Certainly, the usage of a Sauna must be discontinued if you experience pain near any such implants
  10. An individual that has insensitivity to heat should seek medical advice before entering the sauna
  11. The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. This occurs due to a higher metabolic rate per body mass, limited circulatory adaptation to increased cardiac demands and the inability to regulate body temperature by sweating. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent. Children under 12 are not permitted.

Fun family trip We had an amazing stand up paddling trip with Dave. Our boys (12 & 10) loved it, as did Mum & Dad. Paddling round the coast to Dunnottar castle and though small caves and inlets on the way was so picturesque. A highlight of our holiday!

Great day out! Lessons were so fun! Stonehaven has some fantastic views! What better way to see them than from the water and learn a new skill! We did the beginner course for paddle boarding and had a great time! Highly recommend.
Brilliant beginners lesson We had a beginners lesson with Dave and would highly recommend. I am a little wary of the open water but really wanted to challenge myself, everything was explained clearly and I felt really safe (we reached just beyond the harbour limits without me freaking out). His knowledge & teaching is brilliant, he is patient but will also push you a little so I came away from the lesson energised and wanting to continue paddleboarding. He has a variety of paddleboarding classes you can join after your beginners lesson, I really want to do the River paddleboarding up Deeside.

Best experience ever! My daughter has had a few lessons with Dave, he is loads of fun and a brilliant teacher. She absolutely loves Paddleboarding now, go along for a lesson- I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!!!

Great Day! We had a beginners lesson which lasts 2 hours and includes a great deal of information and practical advice before getting on the water. Once on the water all the basics are covered in detail before moving on and progressing at a pace which didn’t feel rushed. Our instructor Angus was patient, friendly and helpful. We had a brilliant time and I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to experience SUP.
Get out there and do it! Started as a beginner last year and never regretted it. It's a fabulous pastime for all levels and ages. Dave is super relaxed but a great instructor and purely thanks to him I'm now competent enough to fully enjoy both sea and river tours. His prices are very reasonable considering the length of the sessions and he supplies all the gear you need! Stonehaven harbour is the perfect starting point for all of his available sea tours with Dunnottar Castle just down the coast and plenty caves to explore in between. If you decide on a river tour you will not be disappointed either since the local River Dee is a beautiful spot to go for a paddle. I highly recommend both Dave and Paddleboarding to everyone!
Private SUP lesson I really wasn’t sure if stand up paddle boarding for the first time as a slightly unfit mum at the age of 54 was gonna be for me but from the first moment dave was ace - very friendly approachable everything explained great kit - I wasn’t remotely cold on a March day it wasn’t a bit as scary as I worried it might be and it was just an amazing lovely experience to see beautiful stonehaven from the sea! Really really great experience couldn’t fault it - defo recommend !!

Fantastic Session! Did a one hour taster session which was excellent. Really engaging for the kids (12 years old) and in no time they were up and about. Lots of games and mucking about which was 'instruction by stealth' but it really worked. Stonehaven harbour is perfect for beginners and there are plenty of options beyond the harbour for the more adventurous / skilled. Will definitely be going back.
Best fun ever A group of mates and I had a few lessons and tours. Just the best fun to be had on the water. Great chilled coach and let everyone get on at their own pace. Would highly recommend to anyone. All ages and fitness levels.
